Salt, history and experiences by the fjord
At Mariager Saltcenter you can experience the story of salt through exhibitions, craftsmanship and activities for both adults and children. The centre is located by Mariager Fjord and combines history, science, wellness and local food in one visit.
You can float in the warm saltwater bath, explore the salt exhibition, visit the atmospheric salt mine, see salt being made in the boiling hut and take a break in Café Salt.
What you can experience
A visit to Mariager Saltcenter can include several different experiences. Here are some of the main highlights.
The Dead Sea
Float in the warm saltwater bath and feel how the high salt concentration carries your body. The water is approximately 39°C and offers a calm and unusual wellness experience.
The boiling hut
See how Mariager Sydesalt is made by hand from ancient saltwater pumped up from the underground. The water slowly evaporates until salt crystals form.
The salt mine and FunRide cinema
Take the elevator down into an atmospheric replica of an old Polish salt mine. In the mine you can also experience the FunRide cinema, where film, movement and effects bring the story to life.
Exhibitions and activities
Explore exhibitions about salt, geology, history and the underground. Families can also enjoy activities and experiments that make salt easier to see, feel and understand.
